What is an AI Policy Bulletin piece?
We publish writing that helps policymakers understand and respond to developments in artificial intelligence.
Our focus is on how to govern advanced and general-purpose AI systems. We socialize good ideas to help policymakers navigate both near-term developments in AI capabilities, and AI's longer-term transformative potential.
If you’re unsure whether your piece fits this framing, please reach out.
Why write for us?
We help you by providing:
- Peer review: Every piece is reviewed by at least one person in our network of AI governance experts and practioners. They provide substantive feedback on content, argument strength, and policy relevance.
- Audience: We have over 1000 subscribers with a readership in international institutions, governments, think tanks and top universities.
- Editorial Support: We help you communicate your ideas in the most actionable and policy-relevant way.
How to submit a pitch
We welcome pitches (1-3 paragraphs) on various topics related to AI policy.
Your pitch should include a strong, clear, and evidence-based argument and enough detail that we can understand the direction of your piece. When considering pitches, we also assess your relevant expertise and track record.
A pitch that gets us excited answers:
- What is your core argument?
- What evidence will you use to support your argument?
- Who is your audience, and why do they need to hear this right now?
- What is the 'so what' for your audience? What should they do after reading your piece?
- How does your expertise connect to this piece, from the readers’ perspective?
The primary reader of the AI Policy Bulletin is a current or future decision-maker who will be in a position to influence the governance of transformative AI. As these professionals are likely to be highly attention-constrained, we are looking for succinct and engaging pieces that are between 700-1000 words long.
